Healthy Living
Students will be learning:
- Throughout this integrated unit students will meet the overall expectations of both the Health and Physical Education and Language curricula.
- Students will demonstrate the ability to apply health knowledge and living skills to make reasoned decisions and take appropriate actions relating to their personal health and well-being.
- Students will interpret problems, evaluate choices and make decisions using a problem-solving model as they make healthy food choices, deal with potentially threatening situations (including cyberbullying) and become familiar with pressures pertaining to alcohol use and other behaviours that can lead to addiction.
- Students will identify and describe an awareness of the people and supportive services that can assist them in a variety of situations where it might be important to seek adult intervention or further assistance.
- Students will examine different points of view and explain how a person’s actions, both positive and negative, can affect the feelings, self-concept, emotional well-being and reputation of themselves and others, and display these ideas in some way.
- Students will apply relationship and social skills as they participate in small groups and class activities to analyze and solve problems pertaining to health concepts and making healthy choices.
